My Disney Cruise Line’s Pixar Day at Sea: An Honest Review

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Disney Cruise Line. (I prefer their cruises over the theme parks, honestly!)

Why? Because no one–and I mean no one—does a cruise like Disney. Each cruise ship has something for everyone–making it a perfect family vacation.

I recently had the opportunity to experience one of Disney Cruise Line’s newest features: Pixar Day at Sea, and as soon as I walked off the ship, I wanted to tell you about it.

So here we go! Keep reading for the skinny on Disney Cruise Line’s Pixar Day at Sea plus my honest review.

“What is a Pixar Day at Sea?”

Disney Cruise Line’s Pixar Day at Sea is included on select 7-night Caribbean cruises. Overnight, Disney cast members transform the main section of the ship–everything down to the signage!– into a Pixar-themed fantasy-land.

It includes a day of beloved Pixar character meet-and-greets, themed dining, movie showings, sing-alongs, and multiple surprises.

This fun-filled day occurs between ports, ensuring there’s never a dull moment during your day at sea!

“What Characters Will I See?”

If you’re planning a vacation with a child who loves some of Disney’s most popular characters, you’ll definitely want to book a cruise that includes this fun day at sea.

Here’s a short list of who you’ll see on the ship:

  • Woody, Buzz, and the gang (Toy Story)

  • The Incredibles

  • Sully, Mike, and Boo’s Door (Monster’s Inc)

  • Joy and Sadness (Inside Out)

  • Miguel (Coco)

  • Remy (Ratatouille)

  • Ian (Onward)

  • Russell and Doug (Up)

Note: Character meet-and-greets with The Incredibles and the Toy Story gang are ticketed events. While they are included in your cruise fare, they must be reserved in advance due to limited capacity.

“What Else is Included?”

As the day kicks off, you’ll get a special announcement from Finding Nemo’s Dory, followed by a Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends. (While this is included in your cruise fare, it is a ticketed event, and tickets must be reserved in advance.)

The day also includes …

  • Arts and crafts with Forky (Toy Story 4)

  • Photo backdrops

  • Wall-E towel creations

  • Window clings

  • Jazz music played by Joe Gardner, the main character from  “Soul”

  • Monster’s Inc. Open “Mike” Night

  • Frozone beverages (The Incredibles)

  • Pixar-themed menu items (dinner)

  • Jack Jack’s Diaper Rash (Incredibles-themed baby crawling race)

My best advice? Be sure to download Disney Cruise Line’s Navigator app to stay up-to-date with all the happenings.

What I Loved about my Pixar Day at Sea

Do I think you should go the extra mile to book a cruise that includes a Pixar Day at Sea? YES!

Here are some of my favorite parts:

1. I loved the “Magic Shots” taken by Disney photographers. You might have to get a little Goofy (see what I did there); the photographers will ask you to stand or pose in a funny way or look at something that isn’t there. Then, the photographers will superimpose a Pixar character or object into the photo.

2. The Pixar Day at Sea offers a lot more than character meet and greets. The entire ship–from the stateroom windows to the cast members–transforms. (The cast members even dress in Pixar-themed attire and “speak Pixar” the entire day.

3. Pixar Day added a whole new level of joy to the cruise experience. I loved seeing the faces of pure delight and surprise as families saw the characters and special details.

Some Things to Consider

While I loved our Pixar Day at Sea, we had to manage our expectations.

First, there weren’t enough hours in the day to experience all of the Pixar-themed events and offerings.

Also, The Pixar Deck Party fireworks didn’t start until after 10 p..m. They do have an earlier deck party for little ones, but if your kids are excited about the fireworks show, you need to prepare for a late bedtime.

To Sum it Up

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our Pixar Day at Sea and would definitely recommend it–especially for families with preschool to school-aged children.

And I’d love to help you book this special vacation! Click here to get started!
