3 Reasons Disney After Hours Events Are Worth the Money

If you’re anything like me, you love Disney. No one does a theme park like Mickey!

Which is why the crowds can be a little overwhelming, right? And that, among many other reasons, is why I always recommend Disney’s After Hours events.

Keep reading to learn all about these magical events, including what they are and the three reasons I always recommend my clients buy those tickets!

What Are Disney After Hours Events?

Disney After Hours Events are special, ticketed events that begin as regular park hours end.

Here are a few examples of popular after hours events:

After Hours events are perfect for older kids, teens, and adults who don’t mind staying up late, since these events can last until midnight.

And while pricier, I believe tickets to these events are worth it. Keep reading to find out why!

Shorter Lines and Reduced Wait Times

Have you ever wanted to ride all of the rides in Magic Kingdom in under three hours?

You can during a Disney After Hours event thanks to reduced crowd capacity!

My son and I attended Mickey’s Boo Bash in 2021 and rode Thunder Mountain three times in a row with no wait. We didn’t even get off the train the first two times because there was no one else in line!)

Plus, there are fewer smaller kids since they’re most likely in bed! And you can beat the Florida heat by visiting the park at night.

The Magic of Disney Theming

No one does themeing like Disney!

During After Hours events, the park is adorned with special decor and lighting effects, and even the Memory Maker photos get an extra touch of Disney Magic.

Keep in mind, though, that during the Boo Bash and Villains After Dark, the themeing can be a bit ediger than by day. And while it’s still Disney–and not at all scary–smaller kids might not find it as magical.

Who Should Consider Disney After Hours?

Adults, teens, and older kids will have a great time at Disney After Hours events, but families with little kids should think twice.

These events run late–sometimes until midnight! So younger kids (and maybe even some adults!) who’ve been up all day (or who need to get up early the next day) might have a tough time.

What Else You Should Know About Disney After Hours Events

These events sell out quickly, so if you’re interested, purchase your ticket as soon as the event dates are announced.

Also note that these are not the same as early park hours or extended evening hours that are perks with certain Disney resort stays. These are special events that require a separate ticket.

Lastly, having a ticket during the day will not grant you access to After Hours Events.

Wrapping Up

In my opinion, Disney After Hours Events are worth the extra cost. Why?

  • You can expect significantly less crowds and shorter wait times on even the most popular rides.

  • The event themeing can’t be beat!

  • The speciality food, beverages, and merchandise are simply magical.
