Are All Inclusive Resorts For Adults Only?

Are all inclusive resorts for adults only? No! And this is a myth I’m happy to debunk, because there are literally dozens of family friendly all-inclusive resorts; many of my clients have said there isn’t a better or more relaxing way to vacation with kids.

Keep reading to learn more about all inclusive resorts and why they’re the perfect option for your next family vacation.

(h2) What is An All Inclusive Resort?

An all inclusive resort is, in my opinion, one of the easiest ways to travel with kids; it’s everything you need in a vacation rolled into one convenient package!

Family friendly all inclusive resorts understand that you want things easy, so they offer a wide variety of activities to keep everyone–including your moody teenager–happy while on their property.

(However, you should know that certain resorts are geared toward specific age groups, so make sure you hire a knowledgeable travel planner to help you select the resort that’s right for you and your family!)

What’s Included at Family Friendly All Inclusive Resorts?

Your all inclusive resort package obviously includes your accommodations, and there are a variety of options you can choose from in order to meet the needs of your family.

In addition to your stay on property, your vacation package will typically include food, some beverages, activities, and entertainment.

 Food

Typically all food and snacks are included when you vacation at an all inclusive resort. However, there may be speciality dining options that incur additional fees.

Beverages

Water, juice, soda, and alcohol are almost always included in your package, but the resort may have limitations.

For example, some resorts in Mexico include domestic alcohol in the all-inclusive pricing but may charge for imported alcohol.

Activities and Entertainment

One of the best features of all inclusive resorts are the activities and entertainment options. Imagine never having to hear “I’m bored!” from your kids the entire time!

These options vary by resort, but some common examples include:

  • Pools

  • Tennis

  • Rock climbing wall

  • Snorkeling

  • Non-motorized watercraft (kayaks, catamaran, small sailboats)

  • Fishing

  • Yoga

  • Ping pong

  • Basketball

  • Volleyball

  • Giant chess/checkers boards

  • Cultural cooking

  • Language lessons

  • And more!

Entertainment options might include …

  • Movies on the beach and/or by the pool

  • Dancing

  • A movie theater

  • Karaoke

  • Yoga

  • Kids club - for school-aged children

  • Teen Club

  • Babysitting (for an additional fee)

Flights and Transfers

Some resorts include transfers to and from the airport in their pricing.

And some also offer bulk fare flights, which means they have pre-purchased seats of flights originating from several cities so they can offer their guests price-protected rates.

These flights are either included in the total price or offered as an add-on. Your travel planner can help you navigate your transportation options.

Excursions at Family Friendly All Inclusive Resorts

Generally, excursions are not included in an all inclusive resort package.

But I still think it’s a good idea for you to understand your options and how booking works so you can include them in your travel budget.

Why? Because there are some amazing attractions to see and do around the country you’re visiting.

Popular excursion options include:

  • Cultural tours

  • Ziplining

  • Riding ATVs through the jungle

  • Deep-sea fishing charters

  • Swimming with dolphins

Always book your excursions through your travel planner or through the resort.

Why? Because ...

  1. your resort will know where you’re going and when you’ll be back at the resort, and

  2. tours offered through the resort are vetted and insured, which offers peace of mind and security.

Both points are critical for your family’s general safety when traveling abroad.

To Sum It Up!

Family friendly all inclusive resorts do exist, and they’re a great (and easy!) vacation option for families of any size!

  • All inclusive resorts typically include your accommodations, food, some beverages, and entertainment options.

  • Excursions are not typically included in an all inclusive resort package and must be purchased separately.

  • Always hire a knowledgeable travel professional to help you select and book the all inclusive vacation of your family’s dreams!
