The Best Shoes For Your Next Theme Park Visit
Packing for any vacation can be overwhelming, but a trip to Disney World? That’s a whole different story!
What’s my best advice when packing for a trip to any theme park? Be mindful of your footwear!
Keep reading for my best footwear tips so you can put your best foot forward on your next Disney trip!
Tip #1: Pack COMFORTABLE Shoes
It might be a no-brainer, but pack comfortable shoes.
Because even the most stylish fashionistas will regret packing those high heels over something with more support.
While the data is mixed, the average number of miles walked per day at Disney World is between 7-10!
Would you run or walk a 10K in strappy sandals, flimsy flip flops, or unsupportive flats? Probably not?
Plus, consider this: unsupportive shoes can lead to back and knee pain. And no one wants to deal with that while chasing down Mickey.
Lastly, don’t pack new shoes. They might feel more supportive, but shoes that aren’t broken in are more likely to cause blisters.
Tip #2: Avoid Open-Toed Shoes at All Costs
Disney is known for two things: magic and crowds.
Imagine waiting in a packed line only to have your toes stepped on dozens of times.
Or having your foot run-over by a double stroller while walking through the park.
Plus, there’s a risk of stubbing your toe on curbs and when stepping on or off the rides or transportation.
Trust me: you don’t want a foot injury on your first day at Disney!
Tip #3: Pack More Than One Pair of Shoes
It’s best to have a backup pair of supportive shoes on your Disney Trip.
Why?
There’s a good chance you’ll get wet on some rides, and wet shoes are uncomfortable and can lead to painful blisters.
Not only that, but every style of shoe will apply pressure to your feet in different places. So having a second pair of shoes will help you avoid blisters and sore feet.
Tip #4: Don’t Forget Quality Socks (and plenty of them)
Socks reduce the friction between your feet and your shoes and therefore minimize your chance of forming painful blisters.
Plus, good socks can help keep your feet dry in case of an infamous Florida thunderstorm.
Pro tip? Pack an extra pair of socks in your park bag. Because nothing will keep your feet dry if you ride Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids!
Tip #5: Pack First Aid Supplies
Sometimes, no matter how comfortable your shoes are, you still get blisters. So be sure to pack a few bandaids, some antibiotic ointment, and even some pain reliever.
Wrapping Up
Footwear can make or break your Disney Trip, so be sure to pack smart!
Remember:
Choose supportive shoes over a stylish pair.
Never wear open-toed shoes
Pack more than one pair of comfortable shoes
Pack extra socks
Make room for first aid supplies, like bandaids and antibiotic ointment
